Hi and welcome to my fifth newsletter! This week has been so amazing! In Praxis this week, we covered budgets, which was an extremely helpful topic. It's crazy to see how fast your money can go if you don’t set it up well. I’m also on week four of tracking my habits. Want to know more? Keep reading and I’ll tell you.
Budgets
To learn about budgets, I did a few exercises on the topic such as: how to make more money, how to spend less money, and how to review my financial goals, but the most helpful one for me was creating a hypothetical budget for myself. It was crazy to see how many things I need for my everyday life.
Some of my categories include: Rent, Groceries, and Transportation - these were no surprise. I will obviously need to eat food, live somewhere, and get places. However, there were some categories that caught me off guard. This included things such as: Eating Out, Health & Wellness, Social & Entertainment, and Gifts. Adding all of these “extras” made it hard to leave myself any money for savings, which was a shock. Luckily, after some intense staring, I finally found a way to include some savings.
This exercise was truly an eyeopener, it helped me see and understand how quickly money goes. I would highly recommend that anyone who is looking to reign in their spending, or simply would like to know where their money is going, to do this exercise. It is a game changer.
Habits
Yes, as promised it is time to go over my habits. This week I did…perfectly! I finally read every single day this week and remembered to do exercises on Duolingo as well. As this was my fourth week of sticking to my goals, I hope this means they are officially becoming habits.
Thank you annoying Duolingo Widget for helping throughout this time. I don’t know if I could have done this without you.
Next Week
I’m not very sure what is supposed to happen next week. (GASP!) I know. I’ve checked ahead to see what next week’s curriculum is about, but I’m not exactly sure what it is. It looks like I’m going to create a “Skill Development Plan” as well as review Phase One. Yes, you read this correctly. Next week is the last week of Phase one…my goodness that went fast! While I don’t know exactly what the next week holds, I am so excited to see what it brings. Don’t worry, I'll tell you all about it.
Thank you so much for reading! Have a great week!
